Presidents of the Women’s College Coalition (WCC) met with the White House Office of Public Engagement, White House Gender Policy Council, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the National Space Council and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to mark the historic start of the first federal partnership with women’s colleges and universities.

Under Secretary of Defense Joins Women’s College Presidents in Announcing Strategic Partnership to Address Federal Workforce Needs

Presidents representing the Women’s College Coalition (WCC) met with Under Secretary of Defense for Engineering and Research, Heidi Shyu at the Pentagon to announce a strategic partnership to recruit women’s college STEM students for the Department’s SMART Scholarship program. The October 26, 2023 meeting launched the first ever Department of Defense initiative with the WCC, who represents 30 women’s colleges in the U.S.

Seven WCC Institutions Awarded NASA Funding to Address the Gender Gap in STEM Fields

NASA's Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) will award more than $5 million in funding to 7 Women's Colleges and Universities to research and advance solutions to close the gender gap for women in STEM.

This funding opportunity is a direct result of the White House Executive Order 14035 “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce.”
