The Women’s College Coalition hosted a town hall during the summer with U.S. Rep. Karen Bass and student panelists from various WCC institutions. More than 400 students and representatives from the WCC joined the powerful conversation on women’s leadership, gender equity and racial injustice.

Bay Path University Gives Women in Foodservice, Hospitality, Retail, and Travel the Opportunity to Earn the Credits They Deserve

As women continue to experience the devastating impact of unemployment due to COVID-19, representing 58.8% of all lost jobs in March, the foodservice, hospitality, retail and travel industries have been some of the hardest hit. Further delivering on its mission of empowering women, at a time when many are forced to reimagine their lives, Bay Path University is offering a free three-credit online undergraduate college course. The course, Fundamentals of Digital Literacy, will help women expand their digital technology skill set and be better prepared for the workforce of the future. The course is offered through The American Women's College, Bay Path University’s fully online division designed to fit busy women’s lives.

Brescia University College Lends Support to the London Food Bank

A project in one of Brescia’s first-year leadership studies courses has transformed into an advocacy project for the London Food Bank and local community.

Brescia students Beth Donchai and Julianna Mereu were members of a group project that was challenged to find ways of addressing issues of poverty and hunger in the London community. Through their research, the group identified an opportunity to hold a “virtual” food drive, where online donations could be allocated to the London Food Bank. It was the students’ hope to engage people digitally and online, in their circles of influences via social media.

In a recent article published on The Hill, Sweet Briar College President, Meredith Woo, talks about how women’s colleges prioritize women’s leadership in their curriculums.

According to President Woo, women’s liberal arts colleges work and provide a strong return on investment by preparing “their students in ways that co-ed institutions have been unable to. For example, graduates from women’s colleges report their college was extremely or very effective in helping prepare them for their first job compared to those who went to public institutions (81 percent to 61 percent). Students from women’s colleges are almost twice as likely to complete a graduate degree as a public university alumna. All of these outcomes help women achieve in the business world”, argues Woo.

Wesleyan College Faculty Selected to Participate in Prestigious and Exclusive Seminar

Dr. Melanie Doherty, professor of English, and Dr. Nicholas Steneck, associate professor of history, have received the honor of being selected to participate in the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) workshop on Deliberation & Debate: Advancing Civil Discourse through First-Year Courses in Washington, D.C., July 12–15, 2020.  The team from Wesleyan College is one of only 20 teams from CIC member institutions, each comprising two faculty members, selected for this seminar.

In a recent article published on University Business, Cedar Crest College President, Dr. Elizabeth Meade discusses the power of women’s colleges and how they are constantly evolving to meet the developing needs of women and society.

They have produced the first generation of women leaders who worked tirelessly to open doors for women and to achieve pay parity, and broke new ground in their professional fields along the way”, says President Meade.

She also explains how Cedar Crest College is implementing different strategies to set students for success. “We are remaking the vision of a women’s liberal arts college by breaking down barriers between curriculum, student activities and employment into an integrated educational experience that prepares our students for life and work in the 21st century”.

Mount Saint Mary's University Receives National Recognition of Wellness Model

National recognition has arrived for Mount Saint Mary’s University's student-led wellness initiative. In November 2019, the University’s peer wellness advocates were named Outstanding Peer Group of the Year by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) — the largest peer education group in the country. NASPA also invited the Mount to speak at its annual conference in Baltimore, Maryland, and share successful wellness strategies other schools could replicate.

Bay Path University Names Sandra Doran as Sixth President

The Bay Path University Board of Trustees is honored to announce that Sandra J. Doran, J.D., has been selected by unanimous vote to become the sixth president of Bay Path University effective June 30, 2020.  She will succeed Dr. Carol Leary, who retires in June following her 25-year presidency of Bay Path.
