Three qualities – courage, commitment and choice – have marked the life of the College and, I believe, you and your family will recognize those qualities in yourselves. Courage – the courage to move ahead, to take a risk, the stay the course, to trust and dare. Commitment – translates into seeing things through, not giving up. Choice – what will you do with your knowledge, experience, wisdom and grace? You will face and make many choices. You will make the discovery that “learning for life” is more than a slogan, that your years at Notre Dame have given you genuine and needed strength for your journey. Even more challenging today is the question the College poses: “Whose life will you change today?” Today, you are awarded your degree from a college that expects you to not only do that, but to lead and work to transform the world. |
